Day Trips in Bangkok
Bangkok,
apart from being a trade centre and a hot and happening
city, it is also the cultural hub of Thailand, as
such it offers tourists and visitors alike a golden
opportunity to be a witness of the Thai traditions. Most
visitors to Bangkok, who want a feel of the place, are
guided by different criteria’s about what they would
like to see in the city. Budget and time are often
crucial factors that decide what kind of a day trip you
want for yourself.
While there is a little bit of everything for the
average tourist in Bangkok from animal parks to museums,
to shopping malls, one needs to discern amongst the wide
variety. We would like to propose here some of the
things one can see on such a day trip. Having gone
through our comprehensive guide you might be able to
decide better on what you really want to see and what
you would rather give a miss.
When in Bangkok you can arrange for a guided tour or
join a tourist city tour either of which can be arranged
by your hotel. There are of course many tour operators
and agents who will also ably guide you through a city
tour. You might either choose a city day tour or a
guided trip that involves staying overnight, especially
if you are going to places like Pattaya to
witness the nightlife.
Day Activities
For the culturally inclined, who wish to be a part of
Bangkok’s rich tradition, art and culture, a visit to
the temples and monasteries is highly recommended.
Wat Pho (temple of the Reclining Buddha),
Wat Traimit
(temple of the Golden Buddha) and many others are
some of the temples that will impress you. A visit to
the
Grand Palace, home of the kings of the
Chakri dynasty of Thailand and the
Wat Pra Kaew (temple of the Emerald Buddha)
is a must see.
The
floating markets of Bangkok will also be a visual
treat for you if not for anything else for its sheer
uniqueness and fresh approach to the day to day
activities of city life. The colorful yet chaotic flower
markets like,
Pak Khlong can be a delightful venture into
something that is not really run of the mill tourist
spot! For the curious, you are recommended a visit to
Chinatown where one gets to see a confluence of Thai
and Chinese culture. Be it the red and white signs or
the food or the Chinese architecture, you will enjoy it
all. For the not so faint hearted you might enjoy visits
to the
crocodile farm, the snake farm as well as some local
Thai Boxing!
Amidst visits to all the grand
shopping malls for those inclined to shop till you
drop, take time out to visit the
Baiyoke tower, which is the tallest building in
Thailand. An amazing view with a total of 85 floors,
this place is truly worth a visit.
From
Spas, to
museums,
Thai
food counters to traditional
markets; Bangkok will suffice the interest of every
tourist, so the next time you are there take some time
out and make a good tour itinerary for yourself.
