Motorbike Taxi

Motorbike Taxis, or in Thai "Motorsai Rabjang", can be found all over Bangkok at every street corner. They are easy to identify as they always are in a group, wearing a colored vest (orange, green or pink) with a number on their back. The purpose of a Motorbike Taxi is to shuttle people up and down the long and deep sois; and to give them a quick ride by passing all cars stuck in the endless traffic jam. The fare depends, as usual, on the distance and should be negotiated beforehand. For short rides into a soi it would cost about 5-10 Baht as for longer rides on the main street they can go up to 20-40 Baht.

Public Bus

Buses, in Thai "Rot Meh", come in all shapes and colors and numbers and so on. It is really difficult to understand the concept of this transport system as same numbers sometimes lead to different destinations. There are no clear signs at the bus stops that indicate the stop name; the bus numbers, and let alone a map with their routes.
However, once you get familiar with using this transport option, you will benefit from the cheap trip fares starting at 4 Baht. You also can ask locals and the other passengers to help you out.

Micro Bus

Micro Buses are a different matter. They are well more organized with clear routes and a flat rate of minimum 20 Baht (with air-conditioning) well worth using. It is a good way to explore Bangkok and its districts as there many different routes that pass Bangkok’s most famous areas. A detailed list of all routes will be up shortly.

Chao Phraya Express Boat

Chao Phraya River Express

What would Bangkok be without its famous Chao Phraya River? Many historical and tourist places such as the Royal Palace and Wat Pho are located along the ‘Mae Nam’. Many tourist attractions can be accessed directly via the pier or are located in the surrounding areas. The Chao Phraya Express Boat offers daily tourist and regular trips to a cheap price and is the ideal method to explore Bangkok and its treasures in different way. You can access the central pier (Sathorn Pier) through the Saphan Taksin station (BTS Sky Train terminal station). Tickets can be purchased directly at the BTS station or at the pier. If you are planning to spend the whole afternoon exploring the Chao Phraya it is recommended to buy the one-day pass for approximately 100 Baht for unlimited boat rides.

Don't get them mixed up: there are four different lines of the Chao Phraya Express Boat that are marked with a colored flag. The website of the CPEB offers a nice and clear plan of the fares, routes, times and other specific information.
