Bangkok offers a huge range of
banging night clubs, wild and sexy go-go bars, classic
western-style ex-pat pubs and a lot more for all tastes
and age groups. Witness how empty streets and alleys
transform themselves into lively, colorful and vibrant
nightlife areas offering live music, classic jazz,
trendy electronic music, head banging hip hop or any
other style of music of your taste. While Bangkok’s
nightlife scene is renowned to be wild and noisy, there
are many other places that play classic and quiet music
where you can relax your tired and tense muscles after a
long day of visiting the capital’s landmarks.
Most places in Bangkok close around
1
- 2 AM. But don’t worry,
if you want to continue partying, there are
some clubs that open their doors to like-minded
party people such as the Spicy
Club and Scratch Dog.

Soi Cowboy is
one of dozen areas of Bangkok's nightlife scene. |

Finding
clubs that stay open late however
isn't an easy task. Most of them are located deep
inside the
Soi, somewhere under
half-closed shutters on the upper floors of and
seemingly abandoned building. Most clubs in Bangkok
require you to be at least 20 years old and an ID must
be shown as proof. The Thai nightlife scene is in
general very peaceful and it is very rare to get
involved in to a fight.
Whisky Soda
Unlike Germans that love beer and
Russians who go for vodka, the Thais love whisky on rock
mixed with soda and/or coke when hitting the clubs or
drinking among friends. By mixing the whisky it becomes
smooth and easy drinkable without getting you drunk too
fast and a bottle can last up to hours. The most popular
whisky that is offered in every club is Johnny Walker’s
Red and Black label that cost around $25 / $40 per
Bottle. Soda, coke and a bucket of ice have to be bought
individually – usually priced at 20-40baht. If you
prefer other alcoholic beverages such as Vodka or
Tequila you will have to ask the bar for a shot as most
clubs don’t sell wholes bottles.
The Ex-Pat Scene
If it is the ex-pat scene you are
looking for, you will find it along the Sukhumvit road.
Many Irish, British and German pubs equipped with pool
tables and dartboards are located there offering local
and foreign beer. The prices are a bit higher than
elsewhere as these are mainly aimed at foreign
customers. A great place to meet new friends!
